This project was centered around Tel Aviv New Central Station as a part of a design course for male clothes. The not so new any longer bus station is a symbol of consensus in israeli culture as it operates as a hub for many of Israel's social complexities. A web of diverse cultures, shops, arts and economical classes is packed into the architectural maze of the multi floored bus station while at the same time the building keeps serving its original purpose - public transportation center in the country's busiest metropolitan. The story of the central station in Tel Aviv isn’t an optimistic one, but rather a sort of mirror of the Israeli people. The brutal structure, giant and grim, placed in the center of a poor, working class neighborhood in the south of Tel Aviv. It has long become a story of a place destined to fail, working for the gain of the upper class instead of the public interest. In this project I focused on the term “eclecticism”, which is why I designed the collection from materials which are not connected to one another, and textiles which we have emotional value for but we are not used to seeing them combined. I received a donation from Egged bus company (a major bus company in Israel) in the form of the upholstery fabric used for their bus seats, which I used for the making of a jacket. I hanged the entire collection up on a rod to represent the conflict between people’s personal interests as opposed to the public’s in regards of the Central Station in Tel Aviv.
